Van Noort, a family-run business based in Waddinxveen, has recently put two impressive new customised combinations into service. A Scania R500 truck equipped with an impressive HMF truck-mounted crane tows a three-axle Pacton semi-low loader trailer, while a new R460 rigid truck pulls the custom-built Pacton drawbar trailer.
Van Noort is a family-owned business in Waddinxveen with a long history. Founded in 1931 by brothers Albertus and Hendrik van Noort, its main operations include transportation, moving services, storage and transshipment, and logistics. The scope and variety of transportation services at Van Noort mean that consistency across the fleet is a priority. At the same time, each combination is fully tailored to suit the customer’s specific tasks and needs. Safety, ease of use and practical applicability are also always important considerations. Independent loading and unloading using a truck-mounted crane or their own forklift is part of the company’s daily routine. Among other things, Van Noort transports containers, units, construction materials, bulk tanks, machinery, furniture, lampposts and road plates. As well as a fleet consisting of around 40 vehicles, the company has 17,000 m2 of covered storage capacity and approximately 5,000 m2 of fenced-in outdoor space. Van Noort recently celebrated its 95th anniversary with its customers.
Van Noort’s first new combination consists of a Scania R500 6x2*4 widespread tractor unit, paired with a heavy-duty HMF 7020 RCS truck-mounted crane with a Flyjib 2000 and a Pacton trailer built specifically for this application. The innovative widespread rear axle and the 10-tonne air-suspended front axle made this unique crane configuration possible. As for the twin-tyred Pacton semi-low loader (model SPD.345.L), it has two steering axles, a kingpin load of 18 tonnes and a total axle load of 27 tonnes. Fitted with a TPMS and a variety of load securing features, including 2 x 12 8-tonne fold-down lashing eyes (TÜV-certified), 2 x 12 stanchion pockets, 4 rows of crosswise stanchion pockets, and holes for straps. Stanchion racks have been installed in the wheelbase, and there are two luxury stainless steel tool chests on each side (four in total). Laxo stanchion sockets and twist locks are also provided. A step has been built into the side guards between the wheels and the rear overhang.
Van Noort has also added a Scania R460 rigid truck to their fleet. The low, flat-roofed cab means that loads of up to 15 metres in length can be transported on the roof. The rigid truck comes with an HMF 5020 RCS crane with a Flyjib 1000, a front support leg, and a matching Pacton drawbar trailer, creating an exceptionally versatile combination.
The Pacton three-axle trailer (AXD.330.L model) is 6.5 metres long and has a rated gross vehicle weight of 30 tonnes. The SAF twin-tyred air suspension system features a TPMS, and the trailer has LED lighting all around. There are rope hooks every 50 cm, as well as certified, fold-down lashing eyes. The trailer comes with ample stanchion pockets. There is a galvanised stanchion storage box/timber box between the rear axles, with stainless steel lids. In addition, there are two stainless steel boxes in the wheelbase. The 28 mm hardwood floor features a steel section above the neck that is coated with a non-slip finish.
For Van Noort, both combinations are perfectly suited to the company’s everyday operations. The production of the trailers was focused on the most important practical considerations. Examples include plenty of storage space for lifting and lashing equipment, ample work lights, anti-slip features, and sufficient lashing points for optimal load securing.
These two unique combinations were made possible thanks to close collaboration between various specialised partners, including Scania for the chassis and HC&H Driebruggen for the HMF crane body, as well as Glasbeek for the paint job and Pacton in Ommen for the custom trailer construction.
