BUKO Transport, based in Beverwijk, are regular Pacton Trailers customers and already have several Pacton trailers in their fleet. Their latest acquisition is a double extendable, three-axle drawbar trailer for a variety of uses. ‘Pacton consistently satisfies by delivering the custom solutions we can count on and trust in our daily work,’ says BUKO Transport fleet manager Artan Bulthuis.
Pacton supplies extendable, low drawbar trailers in various axle configurations ranging from two to five axles, at 9 or 10 tonnes each. The trailers are perfectly suited for flexible transportation of various goods and materials. The middle section is extendable by default, but an extendable rear is also an option and BUKO Transport has chosen this in their latest acquisition.
‘With a chassis height of just 90 cm, a total axle load of 30 tonnes, a spacious extendable middle section, plus a two-metre extendable tailgate with bumper/light box, the trailer offers flexible transport for items such as construction units up to ten metres in length, lampposts and water pipes. We deliberately chose a three-axle trailer with the option for extension, which makes it more versatile and means we can transport higher tonnage loads. We use the Pacton in combination with a powerful four-axle MAN truck equipped with a 78-tonne/metre crane,’ says Bulthuis.
Double extendable
The extendable centre section of the new Pacton trailer for BUKO Transport has a pneumatic locking system for the beams with 50 cm increments. The rear section of the trailer can also be extended electrohydraulically by up to two metres. The pump unit, batteries and remote control are cleverly concealed in a stainless steel box on the left-hand side.
The SAF Modul air suspension includes three axles with a load rating of 11 tonnes. The rear axle is equipped with a manoeuvring aid, with the axle being vented at low speed by briefly pressing the brake pedal three times. The double pneumatic suspension comes with 12 steel rims with Goodyear 245/70 R17.5 tyres.’ The trailer is equipped with LED lights all around, including fog lights, work lights, stalk lights, wide-beam lights and an LED rotating beacon light. The floor is highly durable and comes with steel neck and wheel sections, with the remainder executed in shiplapped 28 mm bamboo. Ample provision is made for twist locks, stanchions, lashing eyes, holes, eyes and rope hooks, as well four wide load signs. There are stainless steel toolboxes on the left and right and a full-width wheel chock box.
Fast and flexible
BUKO Transport started out in 1962 with just two trucks and a lot of courage. Nowadays, the company boasts 112 employees and around 90 vehicles. BUKO Transport is SCL step 3, VCA** and ISO-certified. Bulthuis: ‘To be able to plan effectively and respond quickly for our customers, we need a flexible, modern fleet. That means our fleet is also our calling card. Thanks to modern on-board computers, we always have access to up-to-date information. While our schedule is tight, we can provide flexible solutions where necessary.’
There are several Pacton trailers among BUKO Transport's extensive and modern fleet. ‘We are mainly involved in earth moving and construction, and have around 65 dump trucks. We also have tractor-trailer combinations and trucks with truck-mounted cranes and a trailer. We have purchased four Pactons in the last two years alone. We now have several trailers, as well as low deck trailers and a tautliner. Pacton always meets our customisation needs perfectly, and we are extremely satisfied with the service we have received over the years, as well as the sturdy quality and durability of the equipment.’
