FOURSOME PACTON SEMI-TRAILERS INTENDED AS REPLACEMENT FOR BURGGRAAF TRANSPORT, SERVES AS ADDITION AFTER ALL

22 December 2017

VIANEN – The four new curtainside semi-trailers from Pacton were originally meant for replacement, but now serve as expansion instead according to a smiling Dirk Burggraaf from Transport Company Burggraaf in Vianen.  That is in his opinion the advantage of favouring good quality.

Burggraaf Transport & Logistics was founded in 1971 by Piet Burggraaf and after 46 years he is still actively involved in the company.  He tends to various deliveries daily by means of a rigid.  Since 2010 his sons, Dirk and Ronald Burggraaf, are in charge of the company.  This modern enterprise has grown over the years from one truck to 14.

Transport Company Burggraaf is specialised in distribution in the Benelux, warehousing and order picking.  In 2012 the transport company moved from Leerdam to Vianen, from where they tend to distributions throughout the Benenlux daily, consisting mainly of DIY-goods from hardware stores.  In total they have 34 virtually identical curtainside semi-trailers, fitted with an attachment for a  forklift  at their disposal.   Dirk Burggraaf explains that each truck has a fixed set of two semi-trailers to work with.  The semi-trailers are alternated at the client every time.  He continuous to say that they have possibilities regarding storage and transhipment, loading and unloading containers, and order picking in their own warehouse and that is what makes them as flexible as they could possibly be.

More flexible through customization

The axle weights of the curtainside semi-trailers that have been produced for Burggraaf, are 27,000 kg and a permissible weight of 42,000 kg.  The Roland sliding sheets are made of first-rate 2x2 double-needle stichted PVC tarpaulins, 860 g/m2.  Fixed vertical lashing straps with stainless steel clasps and galvanized hooks are is placed every 600 mm.  The tarpaulins run on nylon rollers in the aluminium roof bars.  The rear tarpaulins can be fitted horizontally by means of a ratchet mechanism and in the front by means of a quick release clasp.

Nine of the 34 semi-trailers owned by Transport Company Burggraaf, are of the Pacton Trailers brand.  The other semi-trailers were also supplied by renowned manufacturers.  Dirk Burggraaf argues that they value quality in their everyday use.  In addition he says that they are not satisfied with standard only.  By choosing Pacton, he says that they chose a manufacturer that is excellent in delivering custom service.  For example, they desired their side stanchions to be placed as flexible as possible and required wooden stanchions in the middle of the semi-trailer due to the fact that they have to be able to load and unload from both sides.  Besides that, he elaborates that they always choose three-axis semi-trailers with a steered rear axle and a retractable front axle.  These attributes simplify the daily transportation and navigation on location for them.
