PACTON LHV COMBINATION THE SOLUTION FOR GERMAN HANSA-EXPRESS

11 July 2019 The new Pacton B-double LHV combination for the German Hansa-Express, specialised in the transportation of dangerous/explosive material, saves 30 percent on transport movement.  This is the only way for the company in Oyten near Bremen to transport three sea containers simultaneously.  Due to the fact that the transportation of dangerous goods is not allowed to be done by means of LHV, empty sea containers are mainly transported from the region to the warehouse of Hansa-Express.  The Positivnetz is in effect in Germany, indicating the routes that are allowed to be used by LHV truck traffic.  If the LHV combinations have to travel outside the Positivnetz, the LHV combinations are temporarily split and once again combined as LHV when containers have been collected or delivered.  According to owner Andree Niehaus the solution that has been offered and executed by Pacton, was the only option of the four permitted combination options in Germany for Hansa-Express.  He came across Pacton Trailers as a supplier of LHV solutions simply by searching the internet.  He hasn’t succeeded in finding the desired LHV solution  in Germany.  He explains that the standard solutions are insufficient for them and that they were looking for a supplier that delivers customised products.

Frontrunner

Niehaus says that the acquisition of the so-called long LKW is pioneering work for Hansa-Express.  He explains that they are the first company in the region with this type of LHV combination.   The local authorities were also unfamiliar with this new phenomenon.  In meantime, the deployment of the Pacton combination has proven itself in practice.  They have saved about 30 percent on transport movement, which is quite a gain. The requirements for the production of an LHV combination to be deployed in Germany, came as no surprise to Pacton.  Although it was the first LHV trailer combination that Pacton delivered to a German customer, it has not been the first LHV combination that Pacton supplied for German utilisation.  The deviating German requirements for LHV’s comprise the radius of turning circle (max. 12,5 m in Germany in contrast to 14,5 m in the Netherlands), the gross vehicle weight (max. 40,000 kg) and the use of a reversing camera among others.

Steered axles

The LHV combination for Hansa-Express consists of a Pacton double axle B-Double BXC.230.  It is pneumatically extendable from 7,5 m to 11,13 m.  The self tracking axle of the semi-trailer is fuse steered and suitable for a 20 feet container.  The B-Double is Pacton’s multifunctional LHV solution.  Not only is it possible to create an LHV combination with a B-Double, but it is also possible to utilise it as a short semi-trailer when the axle group is retracted.  Pacton’s product range includes the B-Double as a flatbed trailer execution, a curtainside execution and a container execution. The following semi-trailer for Hansa-Express is a Tridec-steered, double axle container chassis of the type TBC.G42222, with a length of 13,86 m.  This semi-trailer is suitable for two 20 feet containers or for one centrally placed 20 feet, 30 feet or 40 feet container.  The wheelbase has been tailored specifically to meet the German standards.

Dangerous goods

Hansa-Express Logistics is specialised in the transportation and warehousing of dangerous and explosive goods by means of land transport, air freight and sea transport. They have been active in the transportation of dangerous goods IMO class 1.1 to 1.6 cargo worldwide, since 1989.  Their own trucks are equipped to meet the highest explosive transport requirements (ADR EX II and EX III).  They have a special department for transit licenses, escorts and special national regulations in Europe. Hansa-Express has 35 employees and a fleet consisting of twelve trucks, eight container chassis and twelve box trailers.  The latest purchase from Pacton is the first LHV combination for the company.  Hansa-express has very recently renewed their trucks as well and has kept the utilisation of an LHV combination in mind, for example by making it possible to fit and connect cameras at the back of the trailer combination. Niehaus expresses that Pacton delivers excellent products in comparison to standard semi-trailers of the larger trailer builders.  He explains that every option and wish of the client are discussed internally to offer the best possible technical solution.  He adds that every detail is thought through in terms of the end result, with a great deal of professional knowledge.  That give the client a sense of confidence in the result.
